The Property

Welcome to the Domaine

Welcome to Domaine de Rieucoulon — a rare 18th-century estate nestled among vineyards within the city limits of Montpellier. Passed down through generations, this family-owned property is both a working vineyard and a peaceful retreat, blending heritage with hospitality. Just minutes from the city center and yet surrounded by nature, it offers an unexpected sense of calm and refinement. Whether you're here for a celebration, a private escape, or an elegant gathering, Rieucoulon invites you into a space designed to be remembered.
A peaceful retreat where elegance, nature, and personal connection come together — and where your event becomes timeless.

A Legacy in Stone and Vine

Built in the 1700s as one of Montpellier’s famous “folies” — elegant country residences created by the city’s elite — Domaine de Rieucoulon is a living example of French architectural heritage. Still inhabited and cherished by the same family, the estate has been thoughtfully preserved and opened to others. What was once a private home is now an elegant venue welcoming weddings, retreats, and artistic productions, all while continuing its life as a working vineyard. Every stone tells a story; every detail reflects centuries of care, tradition, and Southern charm.

Elegant Interiors

Inside, you'll find beautifully restored spaces where historical character meets modern comfort. The ground floor features a vaulted dining room — the heart of the home, ideal for intimate dinners or refined receptions — and a fully equipped kitchen designed for both professional chefs and relaxed gatherings. The 18th-century orangerie has been transformed into a flexible space for cocktail hours, dance floors, or seminars. Two formal salons can be arranged as breakout rooms, cozy lounges, or seated dining areas during cooler months. Each space can adapt to your event while preserving the unique charm and warmth of Southern French living. Interiors connect fluidly to the outdoors, immersing guests in the Domaine’s atmosphere of effortless elegance.

Outdoor Living

Step outside into two hectares of gardens where nature and architecture live in harmony. The estate is surrounded by working vineyards, shaded by mature trees, and graced with the soft sound of flowing fountains. Inspired by the original spirit of Montpellier's folies, the landscaping features palm trees, Lebanese cedars, figs, and laurel — a legacy of the families who once brought exotic species home from abroad. Expansive terraces are perfect for al fresco dining, cocktail receptions, or quiet morning coffees. The mineral-water pool, nestled in a restored 19th-century winter garden (ancienne serre), offers a serene space for relaxing under the sun. A pétanque court and large lawns provide space for play, ceremonies, or photoshoots. From a summer wedding under the cypress trees to an autumn lunch among the vines, Rieucoulon’s grounds adapt to your moment — always offering beauty, privacy, and a sense of place.
